James (Jim) R. Hughes

Jim has eclectic interests ranging from science and technology to history and theology and enjoys undertaking home-renovation projects.

He began his career as an urban planner in Sudbury and is currently the Global Capability Manager for Business Analysis and also for Applications Development with .NET for a large systems integrator. He has managed large, complex, systems integration projects. His most recent assignments included implementing a payroll and human resource system for a major Canadian bank and managing a project to re-engineer the justice systems for the Province of Ontario. He also teaches Statistics for the Behavioural Sciences at Tyndale University College.

He is an Elder in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Canada (Free Church of Scotland) where he teaches and preaches regularly. He has served on the Board of the Pregnancy Care Centre for almost twenty years holding the offices of Chairman and Secretary (current position).

He graduated from Harvard University (BA cum laude, 1975), the University of British Columbia (MA, 1977) and Ottawa Theological Hall (1986). He is a long-standing member of the IEEE and has participated in the development of two IEEE standards.

Jim has written three books: In Spirit and Truth--Worship as God Requires, The Church in Cyberspace: The Coming Impact of the Computer on the Church, and Escape, a novel that is set in the 16th century during the Spanish Inquisition. He has also written numerous articles for theological journals including Sempre Reformanda. His article An Examination of The Assumptions of “ Eden's Geography Erodes Flood Geology” was published in the Creation Research Society Quarterly Journal (34). He wrote articles and a regular column (for two years) on project management that were published in Computing Canada and ComputerWorld Canada and other technology journals. (Publications by Jim.)

Jim and his wife Lillian have six children and one grandchild.
